If This Pendent Heart was made into an anime...

I have come to spam share more fanart with the community yet again! XD;;

Previously I had tried my hand at making an imitation anime magazine scan. This time I bring some fake screen shots and production art works from the This Pendent Heart story authored by [livejournal.com profile] spheralunaris . I thought this would be fun because it tickles me to imagine TPH as an anime, though I have no background in animation whatsoever. ^^;; The screen caps are made using cel background images from the show itself and I intentionally made the resolution kind of low to simulate a simple screen capture. As for the "production art", I studied some scans of Princess Tutu production art work people have scanned as well as the official anime materials collection for ideas. The images themselves are pretty big spoilers for This Pendent Heart, so I have them under a cut. If you're curious feel free to have a look. :D

This picture is inspired by the character design profile found in the Princess TUtu materials collection. I realized that none of my fanart for TPH show a clear image of the Darkest Knight so I drew this "character design" guide so people can see certain details you wouldn't know was there just by looking at the existing fanart. For example, I designed his cap so that one corner of the cap attaches higher on one shoulder than it does on the other.

This scene is from chapter 16, right after Fakir and Duck have a heated argument that ended in a sweet and poignant moment between them. I was originally going to make this scene into the illustration for chapter 16 but decided to draw the existing illustration with Mytho and Rue to balance the pairings represented in the fanbook so it's not overwhelmingly Fakiru based. But even after I've completed the illustration, this scene just would not leave my head so I decided to draw it as an anime scene. I didn't color this and make it into a screen cap because I didn't have a clean and appropriate background for this scene, but I thought it'd be interesting to make it look like genga production art with the highlights and shading drawn on the image.

This scene is from chapter 18, when Duck sees the ravens starting to fly back into people's hearts. I wanted to make the scene look like the characters are under the spotlight of a stage as the anime does when the story is actively in motion. I also decided to pick an old-fashioned wooden design for Duck's wheelchair in keeping with the early 20th century theme of the anime.

One of the things I really wanted to draw from the beginning is the fight scene between Darkest Knight Fakir and Prince Siegfried. Since there weren't many description of the actual fight from chapter 12 I imagined a scene like this. I also looked to episode 20 of the anime to see how to depict the sparks as their swords clash to make the scene more exciting.

Now before anyone asks (because I'm almost certain someone will ask me this XD;) I don't have an image of the scene where the Darkest Knight dances with winged Princess Tutu. D: The main reason for this is I can't find a cel background image that would nicely represent Duck's inner heart. I looked through a lot of sites with cel scans and didn't find anything that would fit, and I can't think of anyone scene from the anime that I can cap. I did think about doing a production art sketch like the second image, but I have no idea how the animators depicted the semi-transparent nature of a heartshard in the production phase and being finicky about these details, I didn't want to draw something that would look totally different from what the animators would so. :x
