Neko Sensei

Hello, everyone! I have a question for you. Forgive me if it's been answered before; I couldn't seem to find it when I searched.

I heard somewhere that Neko Sensei is based on a myth about a cat who tries to force young women to marry him. I would like to look into this legend more, but I can't seem to find any record of it online. Does anyone know about this myth, or a place I could find more information on it?

3 years down and I see this post. I was on another forum where someone had mentioned they remembered a similar storyline in Ranma 1/2. I looked it up and here you go
