And it's time for one of my sketch dumps. XD;; Bet you guys thought you were free from them, didn't you? Onoes! XD; I have come back to torment your friends pages!

Following [profile] mangaka_chan's last post, I did 5 different style imitations with PT characters. Under the cut, I'll have listed whose style goes with each picture. ^^

These are all couple pics. No warnings this time, however. (They're all PG, at best) Unless you just plain don't like Fakir/Ahiru or Mytho/Rue. ^^;;; In that case, please don't click that cut.

There are four sketches featuring Fakir/Ahiru and three featuring Mytho/Rue. The first two, however, do not imitate any styles. They're just two pictures in my own style that I decided to include with this post. ^^;

This first one is something I rather like. Rarely do I feel I'm able to do something emotionally pleasing between Mytho and Rue, but I think this one really has the feeling I wanted to imbed in it. ^^ You see that dark string thing linked to their tied pinkies? That's a red thread - which is a common symbol for being "destined" or "fated" by the person hooked on the other end of the string. So that was pretty much the basis for this picture. Mytho is wearing something sorta similiar to his Prince outfit, in a small way. I thought the white wings across the chest were fitting. Rue has black ones over her shoulder, but they kind of mix into her hair in back so they're hard to see. ^^; And the thing circling them is some kind of cloth/ribbon, with black and white feathers on the end. I know the hands and arms have issues, but oh well. I'm still rather fond of it.

Next up was just a sort of silly picture I wanted to do for awhile. Basically Ahiru managed to mess up her hand in dance practice (probably by falling on it or something of the like XD). Fakir ties it up for her with a length of bandage, but they end up bickering since she complains he's tying it too tight and not being gentle enough, and he's griping that she won't stay still so he can finish fixing it up. XD It just seemed like something that would pass between them, in my opinion. haha  Anyway, I gave them both their ballet practice clothes, for the most part, but changed a few things (particularly with Ahiru's). I also decided to mess with putting Ahiru's hair up a different way, since I wasn't particularly fond of that yellow band she wears in the anime. XD; Anyway, it was an enjoyable little piece to do.

And now, we get to styles. :D

First up, is a style many of you are probably familiar with if you're into Shoujo manga (heck, most of these styles are shoujo manga style based). This one is my try at imitating Yu Watase's style, particularly in Imadoki (you might also know her from Fushigi Yugi and Ceres Celestial Legend). The eyes were pretty fun to do in this style, as was the hair. XD And Watase's body structures are stockier and fuller built than what I'm normally familiar with, but I tried to imitate it as best I could. I still think the guy's faces in her style look kind of weird, like how Fakir turned out here. XD; But I think his hair looks nice in this style. Anyway, it was fun to try. ^^

Next up is another you probably won't be familiar with by the mangaka's name, which is Natsuki Takaya, but I bet quite a few of you know of and have seen the manga "Fruits Basket". Well, this is Mytho and Rue in her style :D The big eyes that are close to the sides of the face were quite a challenge, actually, as were the body structures (mostly the male type). I actually think this style suits Mytho and Rue for some reason. XD So I was glad I chose them for this particular one.

Now this one is probably one of my favorite style imitations so far. XD Here is Fakir and Ahiru in Yukiru Sugisaki's style, whose name you may or may not recognize from a title such as "D.N. Angel" :D First of all, you guys are saying "WTF. FAKIR DOES NOT HAVE WINGS," right? XD;;; I'm quite aware of that, I assure you. But in following this style and using my DN Angel manga as a guide, I could not resist giving him wings (like Dark and Krad XDDD) And I actually needed them for this pose I wanted to do (it looked quite strange without the wings there, since they're kind of slowly falling downward). You might also note that Ahiru has a rather large ribbon attached to her braid - another concious decision. There's a lot done with clothing folds by this mangaka, and she uses ribbons a lot, so I thought it would be fitting to give Ahiru one since I was imitating the style.  Ears and noses are probably the key facial feature changes in this style, though the hair in this style also has a "curl and airborne" kind of effect, and I tried to show that as well. And actually, I thought this turned out pretty cute. ^^ ...I'm sure you can tell I had too much fun with the wings. The image for this is actually quite a lot larger. It took up the whole sheet of paper when I drew it, but photobucket is crap when it comes to uploading large images, so it shrunk considerably. ^^;

Now here's a style I had a heck of a lot of trouble trying to imitate. And that's Arina Tanemura's manga style. You might recognize her name from manga such as "Full Moon wo Sagashite" and "Kamakaze Kaitou Jeanne".  Anyway, another Mytho/Rue one for this, and I think they actually did suit the style. ^^ Focus points in this style are particularly the eyes, the hair, and intricate and very "bunched" clothing folds. And I tried to show each as best I could. ^^; The eyes were particularly fun to do in this style, especially Rue's. As for the pose...I don't know. XD; Mytho is looking at his hand, for some odd reason. XD;;;; And Rue crossed an arm over herself to grab Mytho's shirt and pull it, for some other odd reason. :D;; (it was a good way to get some extra clothing folds in there, though). I rather like how their expressions turned out for this piece. I know Rue's neck is a bit off and might be a bit long, but oh well. XD; I'm somewhat happy with the hands in this one, at least.

And last, but not least, a style many of you probably don't know at all! XD;; This is the only male mangaka out of the ones I tried, I believe. So here is Daisuke Moriyama's style for Fakir and Ahiru. If you're familiar with the manga "Chrno Crusade", then you might recognize his style. If not, then...you probably won't. ^^;;  This style was fun for doing Fakir in. XD His facial structure I based off of the older male characters, so he probably looks a bit older. ^^; Then again, Ahiru doesn't look so young here, herself. But yes, face structure and setup is one focus point to this style, as are eyes and hair, along with a body structure kind of similar to Yu Watase's work. :D (Those seem to be the major changes in most styles) I actually think they look rather cute in this style. ^_^ And despite how it looks, this guy's style is not labelled as "shoujo", even though it does seem to carry hints of it. ^^; (And I actually had a braid style to imitate in this! Yay for Chrno's long braid! XDDD)

....And that concludes my big art post. XD;; Sorry there's nothing colored this time, but I do rather enjoy sketching. It's less-stressful than CGing. ^^;;; Anyway, hope this didn't bug anyone too much. I can do posts with less in each if it helps. o_O I don't mean to just pour so much on at once.

Well, any feedback is as welcome and appreciated as always. ^^ And special thanks to Mangaka-chan for style imitation idea! It was interesting, fun, and I think I might have learned a few things along the way. :D
