I made some more icons! Some are the result of trying out my new editing platform, and some are inspired by the music of Lady Gaga and Adele. All use my own screencaps. Enjoy!

You can find them HERE at my journal.

A fanmix of the pairing Fakir/Duck from Princess Tutu. I did this in response to a meme on tumblr, and I thought I'd share it on livejournal. The songs switch back and forth between Duck and Fakir's perspective, and the last three are from both of them. I hope you enjoy!

So divided we fall, but stronger we stand... )

MEP anyone?

I was wondering if anyone would like to participate in an MEP for the anniversary? A few years ago the scorpions released a CD on which they play with the berlin philharmonia orchestra

there are also two awesome instrumental pieces on it (which can actually be put together)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evXdeXvjrSg

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3yYb_cjGhs

I wanted to make a PT amv with these for a while but I really got scarred off by the length of the songs (it's about 13 min together)

so yeah would anyone be interested? This isn't about being good at editing but more for fun and also to celebrate the anniversary

Come on, the music is awesome, right?

Got a couple of fic pieces, a few more crop-rampage icons, and something new for me, trying to put together a Fakiru FST. :D I'm not much of a graphic maker and a complete noob with adequate file sharing, so instead it's mostly me listing some songs and giving opinions about it. XD;;;

I'm not entirely sure this is PT enough to post here, but I'm assuming most or all of you know the famous Håll om Mig amv, so...

I love love love this song, and I also love "translating" songs from other languages, so here is my English version of Nanne's Håll om Mig.

Listen here!

Hey everyone! I have one new inquiry and one old discussion topic that I never got around to posting, so get ready for a double whammy!

1) I was watching the prelude to Episode 21, and for the first time, I really paid attention to the fact that the 'Once Upon a Time" story included the fact that Drosselmeyer wrote stories for "The King, the Nobility, and all the Kingdom's rich" before they started fearing him. This isn't that unusual, and this has NOOOO solid basis in canon, and is more of a discussion point, but I started wondering if the Prince Siegfried in the Prince and the Raven was the son of the King who used to go to Drosselmeyer for stories, and whether putting the Prince in the story was Drosselmeyer's way of getting back at the kingdom who had scorned him. Like I said, no canon basis, but a fun thought, right?

2) This is music related. I was playing a game named Catherine and there was a stage playing THIS SONG (no worries, no spoilers), and I could have sworn I've heard it in Princess Tutu. Does anyone know when/what episode it might have played in, or alternatively if I'm just MAKING IT ALL UP IN MY HEAD?? Inquiring minds want to know and any help would be much appreciated!

A while ago, I did a writing request meme for Christmas, centering around the titles of The Nutcracker[livejournal.com profile] insaneladybug had requested one with Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy with Autor and Ahiru.  In the piece, which can be found here (part 1) and here (part 2), I have Autor playing Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy on piano. So, I browsed through Youtube, listening to piano covers and trying to decide what I liked. There were a few good ones, but being a bass claritnetist (who indeed played this specific solo), I decided that the pianists did not do the bass clarinet solo justice. Sorry, I'm such a music freak. However, luckily enough, I did find one that I was relatively pleased with. I shared the video with [livejournal.com profile] insaneladybug and we both remarked/agreed on how the pianist bore a striking resemblance to Autor. He even wears glasses, (though in the video included below, the glasses don't show up that well).

Today/this evening, I was browsing through my favorites collection on Youtube and re-discovered the video, so I thought I would share. The more I look at him, the more I'm sure that an anime character has manifested into flesh and blood. So, here he is, for your viewing pleasure.

Otherwise, any of you happen to know that the orchestra that played Princess Tutu's music (both the classical and series-exclusive) is called Sofia Symphony Orchestra? Well, I just found out now (thus revealing how much of an epic dork I am) that they actually exist in the Amazon marketplace. (And presumably other places, but for convenience's sake)

As in, go listen to Sofia's Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty and Nutcracker music -- they are identical to Tutu's versions. Unmistakeably. I SWEAR.

Here's one album that you can listen for yourself that has most of them:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002I3TGOI

Yeah, and I think that's the Ruslan & Ludmilla that was likely used in the Tutu series (seeing as all the rest of the ones on the OST are done by that orchestra), so if you have to have the one that's used in the series...pretty sure that should be it. And no, that one piece is not on the Tutu OST. =P

...But that's all of course if you are as much of a geek as I am that can tell any difference between orchestras playing the exact same song. ^^;; You can find plenty of other recordings by other orchestras that sound just as good or better -- just not *exactly* what Tutu used. lol

Here's a list of all the other music that they've recorded of you can buy mp3s of in case you're curious and pretend that it's a part of a supplementary Tutu soundtrack *is shot*:

http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=1303331267/ref=sr_pg_2?ie=UTF8&keywords=Sofia%20Symphony%20Orchestra&rh=n%3A163856011%2Cn%3A!624868011%2Ck%3ASofia%20Symphony%20Orchestra%2Cp_n_feature_browse-bin%3A625151011%2Cp_n_feature_browse-bin%3A625151011&page=2

(And since I'm guessing people will ask, and since there's really no reasonable way to actually buy the things since they were packaged with the limited edition first press of the Japanese DVDs....here are some links for the discs of the official Tutu OST itself:

Go on and compare them, I dare you! 8D )

Aaaand, here we go! My second fanmix, once again Princess Tutu, this time focusing only on Ahiru. :)
There are 18 tracks overall, cover and back art were both created by myself and can be found within the .zip.

Artists include Lenka, Angels & Airwaves, and Leigh Nash.
Notes: I unfortunately couldn't get all the .mp3s in the folder to be edited in the way I wished (ie; resized & all set to the same album) so you'll have to manually fix those yourself. D: I'm really sorry about that!

Both of these FSTs were created for [livejournal.com profile] val_tyr for the 2010 Secret Santa Gift Exchange, and since so many people were going public about their gifts, I figured I would too. Enjoy.

So I did this Autor FST for [livejournal.com profile] frumiousq, who specifically requested one as a SS gift. This is a 2-disc(!) length story-told-in-music, mostly instrumentals. It comes with a front cover and a back cover (it's in the zip file too) with the track names in English (most of them have Japanese titles originally). The covers are done by me, and the source Autor screenshots were from the big pack offered in one of the pages of this comm (that were also by me, but I couldn't say that during SS, haha).

Please do take a look at the text file of commentary; it has lyrics for any songs with spoken words and at least a small blurb on why a track is included, along with other meaningful details.

The Left Hand of Defiance (an Autor FST) Back cover

Download signed version zip: https://app.box.com/s/1w56x9ls0umed9i7tlte

If you've already seen or downloaded this from the SS anon post, the version I'm putting up here is an updated 'signed' edition in which I fixed several oopsies that I realized were there only after I had put it up XD;; So, there are updates in the commentary, and the covers are slightly fixed and higher resolution, as well as the filenames fixed of a few I misordered. The music is exactly the same though, so if you just want to have the updated files as a kind of 'patch' to the original without having to download lots of redundant files, below is a smaller version that is exactly that.

Signed patch zip: https://app.box.com/s/4hvr7wknxtys08cjsbee

Just unzip it into the folder of your original download of the FST and it should work just fine. But do let me know if any issues turn up so I can correct them!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to share two songs I found recently - one is based on the story of Swan Lake (goth rock style! XD) and the other is a really beautiful and haunting vocal version of the main theme. I've found myself listening and re-listening to both of them a lot, so I thought I'd post them here too. I hope you enjoy them! ^_^

The Agonist - Swan Lake (Acapella)

This is the vocal version, and I find it so enchanting and beautiful; totally perfect for a dark fairy-tale.

Dark Moor - Swan Lake

This one is an epic song based on the story of Swan Lake, and even uses several different pieces of the ballet's music. It's awesome, and every time I listen to it, I like it more. Enjoy!

this post got a 50:50 chance of being totally ignored but i don't care XD
I hope is ok though, because it doesn't have to do with princess tutu directly...

Anyway,i decided to make a playlist with german sung songs and english sung songs from germany

and it got nothing to do with the fact that i want more PT amvs with german songs

this will help me find songs for amvs faster, too
and i can listen to the playlist when i draw or write fanfics ;)

i'll try to add songs every now and then. I only added the songs i mostly really like so don't expect evry german song there is

if you have any questions you can always ask me or if a song is twice in the playlist please tell me

anyway here are the links:

Edit: Thank you tiassa and rhapsody14!

Sorry to be a bother and spamming this comm with all of my posts, but I found myself humming something and realised it was the music that played when Mytho first becomes affected by the tainted raven's blood.

The first time it appears is in episode 14 at 14 mins 20 seconds and lasts until 15 mins 30 seconds. This music is present in the next episode too.

It's low, unnerving, rich in bass instruments with a repeating cello/bass motif, and a repeating 'dundun' followed by descending brass.

Can anyone tell me what it is and who composed it?

For you busylazy ones, it starts at 5 mins 23 seconds here:

Gah, it seems like all I can do is post about music-related things here! May have to change that…

Anyway, I was just rewatching episode 22 of the Princess Tutu anime, and I just loved all of the music in that particular episode. Can somebody tell me what tunes I heard in there? I really want to know! (If possible, download links would also be much appreciated) Any help would be great!
[identity profile] nightstar12.livejournal.com
Hi Everyone! I just recently got into the Tutu fandom and was wandering which part of Swan Lake was the opening song based on? I really liked the ending od the opening song, where tutu dances and would really like to play it on violin, but when I went to check out the swan lake sheets I found about 30 differnt ones!

I would be really grateful if someone could help me. An mp3 would help as well if possible :)

Arigatou-gozaimasu!
