Hello, community!  Today, I just received some Tutu reference material in the mail and I'd like to share some of it with you!  In total, there has to be about 125 of these things.  Since I don't have much time today to scan, but I was much too excited to not share with everyone, here are 18 of them that I thought are either interesting or could be useful to fanart or fanfiction.  (If you want to see more images like this, Mangaka_chan shared some images from her Materials Collection here)

I never considered that Mytho and Fakir's swords were different sizes.  It looks like their sword heights were designed to be  relative to the characters' heights.

Hello, community.  I've been lurking here for several years & only now decided to post because [livejournal.com profile] usedtotime has been encouraging me to do so for months.  I'm really nervous.  I'm really shy.  *hides*  (/).(\)
Ahiru is my favorite character and I really like making animated gifs.  I also like to paste together long panning shots into one giant image.  I've made quite a few Princess Tutu gifs and images and would like to share some of them so my intro post has some interesting content.  I've uploaded quite a bit of these onto Tumblr already

I'm ordering some costumes for Sakura Con, Prince Siegfried!Mytho, Raven Prince!Mytho and Princess Tutu. Unfortunately, the team making the costumes need better pictures of Raven Prince!Mytho than I have, and I'm this close to just drawing my own. Before I do that, do any of you have pictures (screenshots, official pictures, fanart etc.) I can use for costume design?

Thanks for any help you guys can provide!

EDIT: THANKS YOU GUYS. The team making the costumes says they've got some good pictures now. Thank you again!

So…for my first post in the community I wanted to share my attempt of translating some of the information that was in the Princess Tutu Guide Book scans.

According to Junichi Sato's note 13 , the original model of Drosselmeyer's grave is Hans Christian Andersen's Grave, famous for his children's stories because at the beginning, Junichi Sato believed that Drosselmeyer is a Nordic (note 1). But he also found out that Drosselmeyer should be a Germany name (note 8).

Hey, I'm not sure who here uses google chrome, but I made my own theme for Princess Tutu! If anyone wants to download it, I can upload it to a website. I'll put a screencap of what it looks like under an lj-cut

VLC wound up taking so many shots that I'm actually doing this in two parts. There were over A THOUSAND of these things before I weeded out the dupes and the uglies, and even now there are 630-something.

Samples and link, get it here! )

Question

Soooo I was paroozing through the dub uploaded onto Youtube and I saw a difference between the dub and the version I downloaded a billion years ago before the dub was completed.  For example, look at the difference in the scene where Autor is showing Fakir Drosselmeyer's family tree:

The dub from Youtube

Japanese version from a billion years ago:

Why is it so DRASTICALLY different??  The poor middle child of Drosselmeyer's no longer has a family line.  And Fakir went from Drosselmeyer being his great grandfather to Fakir being 5 generations down.  O_o  Also, it looks like Fakir has a sibling that's been Xed out.  Makes me think Rue is his sister... lol.  (if that's true, there go any plans for me to draw any cute Fakir x Rue pics xD;; )

Does anyone know why there is such a DRASTIC difference?  Is my version ripped directly from Japanese tv and is the DVD version different?  (I've seen this in manga where artists will change pages of manga from the original publishing in phonebooks to the tankobons.)

So I've been promising people screencaps for ages, and have met nothing but technological mishaps. UNTIL THIS DAY.

So I was Doing Nothing Much after a week of work and a sore throat, and doing that in front of the TV, and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was on....

I don't know if it's been mentioned on here before, but the views out of the glass Wonkavator at the end looked quite familiar. Wikipedia confirmed my suspicion that the location was indeed Nordlingen, ca. 1970. The article for the movie has a screenshot or two. There are more cars than we are used to seeing.

Here are more artsy/atmospheric screencaps I made and must share!

I've also decided to do a Tutu doujinshi and have finally written my plot! Yayay! Gonna solidify it now and am busy making sketches. :9

In the meantime, SCREENIES!!! )

I was researching outfits in the series for a new pic (non-crack this time lol). I hadn't seen most of Princess Tutu since I first saw it some 5 years ago, so I ended up watching a couple episodes last night in nostalgia and skipped around others looking for nice scenes. I looove the art style HOMG. *total artgasm over here*  Some imagery is SO PRETTY, even if nothing is actually happening in that scene.  I don't know if there is some great, complete screencap Tutu gallery out there somewhere, but I figured I would share some artsy caps I took that I enjoyed. I tried to make them small enough so they won't take forever to load but big enough to see. ^^

Screenies! )

Just a minor thing I realized during making amvs

So, on Drosselmeyer's gravestone we see "D.D. Drosselmeyer" (There weren't many shots of the grave, and this is the closest one)

I've brightened it up so it's easier to see.

I don't know how many of you are familiar with the book version of " the neverending story" (it's awesome, read it!)
and I'm not sure anymore if they mentioned it in the movie

The thing is, that Bastians full name is Bastian Balthasar Bux, and the bookshop owners name is Karl Konrad Koreander (okay in the english version it's written Carl Conrad Coriander). In the story, they talk about the fact that their full names always start with the same letter.

So it's B.B.B., K.K.K.( or C.C.C.) and D.D.D.

Do you think it's a reference to the book or just coincidence? It's so minor and so hard to realize that I'm not sure :S
I don't think that he had a full name in the ballet or in the original book of the nutcracker.

Anyway, froggy!

So I have finally discovered the fine art of making icons! I went on a slight rampage in my attempts to make them, and I made a good chunk of Princess Tutu icons. Enjoy!

GO HERE TO GET THE ICONS. The PT ones are at the end of the set, but you are more than welcome to take the other ones too - there are a lot of Disney ones, just sayin'. Credit is nice, but not totally necessary.

Also, does anyone know a good place to get screencaps? I want to try making more Princess Tutu icons and I am going to need more material to work with to do so.
