Both of these FSTs were created for
val_tyr for the 2010 Secret Santa Gift Exchange, and since so many people were going public about their gifts, I figured I would too. Enjoy.
A sampling of some tracks:
2. "Beautiful World" – Utada Hikaru
Mytho is beautiful. 'Nuff said.
4. "Out There" – The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Tony Jay & Tom Hulce)
Much as Mytho cares for Fakir, he wants to be free to experience life on his own.
Safe behind these windows and these parapets of stone
Gazing at the people down below me.
All my life I’ve watched them as I hide up here alone
Hungry for the histories they’ve shown me.
All my life I’ve memorized their faces
Knowing them as they will never know me.
All my life I’ve wondered how it feels to pass a day
Not above them
But part of them.
7. "Last Night on Earth" – American Idiot (Tony Vincent, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Mary Faber & Company)
No matter what happens to Mytho or Kraehe/Rue, they will still love each other. Even if she rips out his heart and steeps it in Raven’s blood, he will still love her.
My beating heart belongs to you.
I’d walk for miles ‘til I found you.
I’m here to honor you.
If I lose everything in the fire,
I’m sending all my love to you.
10. "Cry" – The Prince of Egypt (Hans Zimmer)
Prince!Mytho wants to come back to the surface, but Raven!Mytho refuses to let him do it. However, there is a little hope that things will turn out alright in the end, as exemplified by the last section (2:50 to the end).
14. "Danse Macabre" – Camille Saint-Saëns (Leonard Bernstein & the New York Philharmonic Orchestra)
I know, this was heard in the series, but I really wanted to include it on this FST because it was such a good piece and it really exemplified the extreme darkness Mytho reached before he was restored to human form.
1. "Such Great Heights" - The Postal Service
And I have to speculate that God himself
Did make us into corresponding shapes like
Puzzle pieces from the clay
4. "Perfect Situation" - Weezer
Get your hands off the girl,
Can't you see that she belongs to me?
And I don't appreciate this excess company.
Though I can't satisfy all the needs she has
And so she starts to wander.
Can you blame her?
10. "Backdrifts" – Radiohead
Raven!Mytho sets Fakir up for pushing him out the window, and their relationship crumbles, much to the horror of real!Mytho.
You fell into our arms
You fell into our arms
We tried but there was nothing we could do
Nothing we could do
12. "Love Lockdown" – Kanye West
I’m not lovin’ you the way I wanted to
What I had to do, had to run from you
15. "Scheherezade: 2. The Tale of the Calendar Prince" – Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov
Sort of the over-arching classical piece for this pair. It represent Fakir’s writing and rescue of Mytho, whom he loved.
