So, I've been thinking. At the beginning of the year, I started up the community
yugioh_contest. Basically, it's a community that gives a prompt every week (biweekly now due to the small number of participation) and participants write fanfic for it. After the set deadline, a voting post goes up and people of the community vote for their favorite. The winner gets a personalized banner and, on the rare occasion, a personalized fanfic from me.
So, taking the whole idea of a contest community, I've been thinking about doing the same with Princess Tutu fanfic but one thing's been holding me back. The Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom is pretty large, including their fanfic writers (judging from FFN) even though I don't have that many participants, which is all fine for me. But, I would be worried if- should I start such a community for Princess Tutu- fanfic participation would be lacking there as well. I'm honestly not sure. So, I would like to take account what the general opinion of this is? Like it? Dislike it? Neutral? If enough people seem interested, I might make a contest community for Princess Tutu as well (or maybe some else could....? So I could participate :3 ).
A few notes about how it would work (in case you're too lazy to read the rules of Yugioh Contest:
You would have to write on deadline. Though, you're given two weeks so I think that should be okay. The point of such a communtiy would be to help writers and fanfic authors alike to improve their writing skills. So, writing on deadline is a helpful tool. I do allow extensions. Prompts are given on Mondays and given two weeks- Sunday at 11:59- to enter. And voting doesn't start until Tuesday. So, that gives an extra 24 hours to get it in- as long as you ask for an extension first, another important tool for writers- communication.
Also (trying to wrap this up and not drag it out for too long), one thing I try to encourage is commenting on entries. My Yugioh community doesn't really seem too fond of that. But, again, the point of such a community to improve writing skills. Feedback is necessary. Not necessarily to stroke one's ego but to tell them what they can possibly improve on.
So, let me know what you think. If you like this idea so much you want to mod or help me co-mod such a community, comment and let me know!
