This year, in the Princess Tutu Secret Santa event on Livejournal, someone made a beautiful Autor fanmix. Once identities are revealed, I will edit this to say who. One of the songs on it, the piano version of Pain from Xenosaga, left a deep impression on me and a vivid image of an AMV using it. The fanmix maker gave me the Okay to make it, so here it is. It's the first time I've tried an instrumental song for one of my AMVs, and I quite like the result.
The storyline is simple, yet poignant. As Autor fights with the Bookmen's leader, he wonders what will become of him and whether he will die protecting Fakir and defying Drosselmeyer. He begins flashing back, remembering his experiences since first becoming involved with Fakir and Ahiru, and how his motives have changed. At the end, injured from the fight, he pleads with Fakir to write for the one who is waiting for his Story. Fakir looks to him, only now realizing just what he's gone through. So as not to contradict canon, that could be after Fakir finishes the Story and is leaping up to go to Ahiru. Autor, now on the floor, looks at him blearily as he passes out.
I know there didn't seem to be a place for the scene in actual canon, but it does bother me that they didn't show Fakir finding Autor hurt after the fight. I say that he must have been badly hurt, since after that point you see nothing of him until he's shown fully recovered in the library, yelling at Hermia and Lysander to be quiet.
No copyright infringement is intended and no profit is being made from this. This is a celebration of a beautiful song and anime combined.
