Thoughts On The Ending

tutufansSo I saw many different opinions on the ending of the anime. Ranging from it being a happy ending, to it being bitter-sweet, to it being extremely sad. Obviously different people are going to form different opinions, but it interests me that I have seen so many different perspectives of the ending of this anime. So I was wondering what everyone's own thoughts are on the ending.
Anyways here are my thoughts (Mainly on one aspect of the ending):
I always thought of the ending as a happy ending. Yes it not your typical predicatable happily ever after ending with the main heroine remaining a girl and finding true love. But I think being happy as yourself (in this case being a duck) is what real happiness is. Often times we imagine ourselves as something else. In real life we don't always get to try out that different role. However since Princess Tutu is a fairy tale, Ahiru was given that chance. But in the end the fairy tale ended and Ahiru went back to being her true self,a duck. But there was nothing wrong with her being a duck. I mean look how much she accomplished in the last episode even as a duck. She didn't need Princess Tutu's power, she didn't even need to be a girl. So why can't she be happy as a duck as well?
I also always see people say the Fakir/Ahiru relationship is over (unless he writes her to become a girl.) But even if Fakir and Ahiru can't have a traditional relationship they can still have feelings for each other. Fakir said he would stay by Ahiru's side forever and seeing them together in the last scene was enough for me.
So now Fakir and Ahiru are their true selves. They are no longer stuck in a fairy tale world. However they are together in the end and I believe together they can find happiness. And this is why Fakir is able to write a story full of hope at the end.
Anyways, I mainly talked about the Ahiru/Fakir part of the ending but feel free to talk about the ending as a whole or whatever aspect you want. I will say that I thought Rue ending up with Mythos was also perfect. It was unpredictable yet still lovely at the same time. And I also loved Neko Sensei finally getting married in the end. XD
Anyways this is just my perspective of the ending. Feel free to agree, disagree, etc. I would really like to hear everyone's own opinions
