tutufans | Con Report: Princess Tutu @ AX'07!!

Hi!! I know it's over a week late, but I have some AX Tutu cosplay photos I've taken (both at the gathering and elsewhere), along with some rambling narration from yours truly, to share with everybody. :D Thanks be to

lithele for cleaning these up, resizing and uploading them~~ <3 If anyone wants full sizes, she says feel free to ask her. :3

BTW, I actually took a video of parts the Tutu gathering coming together (~4 min footage total) -- if I can get it up, would people like to see it? :D

Even though I knew there was the gathering on Saturday, I came across several cosplayers on Friday randomly around. The first I saw were

dream_chaser023 and

silver_falconer as Princesses Tutu and Kraehe respectively, at the top of the staircase.

I eventually did see the above pair at the gathering, but the following ones all told me that they couldn't make it. D: (Guess that's why they wore 'em on Friday!)

Then, the day of the gathering. Along with

lithele as Romeo Fakir and

ladylore as Princess Tutu, I went in my pink Tutu Cast Party shirt and we set off, but not without getting stopped for photos on the way.

And people were already there! There was the Tutu and Kraehe I saw the other day, along with

lycorne as untorn Knight Fakir (who had brilliantly brought along a duckie plush :3 ) and

random_karen as casual Fakir. :D

It was large enough that I needed two shots to get them in there. :P

Then, suddenly, an Ahiru showed up, EDIT:

animiko, along with

rukawagf the raven-torn Knight Fakir! After hugs and cheering, we started on poses. :D

Note the Utena chatting on the cell phone in the BG (who happened to walk by the same time Ahiru appeared). :D More on her shortly. (You'll see her inadvertently in the BG of several of the photos)

Apparently there was a good breeze that day around the Terrace Theater, so as she was posing for an individual shot the wind kept on making the skirt flare up so that she kept on having to push it back down. It even happened in the later post-sitting photos. :P

So many Fakirs! A total of four showed up that day, at the point where someone called for Fakir, and we were all, wait, which Fakir? XD And to think that previously Fakir cosplayers were hard to find!

Then,

vikki appeared as pantless Mytho!! She came to the gathering with pants, but much laughing and cheering when she took those off. Someone in the crowd inadvertently remarked about "pantless Fakir". (

mangaka_chan, did I see you cover your mouth in the video I took? :P ) Silence for a moment before we all burst out laughing again. "Wait, Fakir took his pants off?!?" XD

From here, we launched into full pose mode, and we went a little further towards the fountains nearby. Our Kraehe got up on a post and we got several pictures as she was up there (props for sitting on that so long!)

Time for ballet class!

After this point, we said, hey, why don't we go on over to the convention center? So after taking the above picture (right by the entrance of the theater) we set off.

A curious procession indeed. :P Oh, and remember me mentioning the Utena in the background of a few of the photos? See the pink hair right above Ahiru's head? That's her. During the gathering, she started hanging around, talking on her cell phone, as well as taking pictures. So when we were moving, she ended up being the ~~parade~~ group leader so people wouldn't get lost on the way. "Everyone, follow the pink head!" :P As we were walking, she commented that she kinda ended up being the gathering's "den mother", and somehow it fitting for her to be there, what with Utena kind of being Princess Tutu's predecessor series that are often compared. I just found it interesting that this happened so serendipitously. :)
EDIT: I found out later on the comments that the Utena was in fact

animiko's friend,

isako, and they were hanging out together at the gathering. That would explain her being around so much, but I still don't know how I ended up getting her into the photos all the time. XD

After we got to the convention center,

The funny thing is, there's another image from

dream_chaser023 that is also of this pose, but in a totally different angle than either of these. And they all look significantly different! (It's entitled "Moment" on hers)
