This is my fanfic entry for the contest this month for the Princess Tutu Club on deviantart. The theme is to either draw or write the Tutu characters as actors. So, I had a little fun with this entry. Enjoy! ^_~

Title: The Bet
Series: Princess Tutu
Characters: The main guys
Rating: G

"Cut! Cut!" the director screamed. He stomped up from his chair and glared at the three actors before him. "You're doing it all wrong! Lucy, you need to try to show more of Rue's softer side, or the audience won't relate to her at all."

"S-sorry," Lucy stammered.

"Amy, Ahiru is a klutz not a walking disaster."

Amy grumbled and cursed under her breath. "I don't get the difference. Man, I could go for a cigarette."

"And you Mark!" the actor barely lifted his head as the director rolled up the script at pointed it and him. "You're overdoing the emotionless act."

"He has no heart, he's not supposed to have emotions," Mark spat back.

"Yes, but I imagine it would feel quite painful to have a shard of your heart be PULLED OUT OF YOUR CHEST!"

The director sighed. "Listen, you need to try to bring out the small vital traits in your characters. You can't overdo them, but they help the audience understand and relate to your characters." He raised his hand up. "It's because of this that even a minor character who barely has any lines can become memorable."

Mark scoffed. "Do you really think we should be taking acting advice from you?"

Lucy and Amy froze. "Uh oh, M-Mark's temper is going to f-fly again," Lucy whispered to Amy.

"Just pray he doesn't break a camera like last time," Amy replied.

The director raised an eyebrow and folded his arms. "And why would you say that, Mark?"

The actor smirked. "This is your first project as an actual director. You're barely older than us, but we've been acting since we were children. And I-" he paused for dramatic effect. "Won an Oscar."

Amy rolled her eyes. "Yes, you remind us of that fact every ten minutes."

"Therefore," Mark continued. "I think we know more about acting than you and don't need you telling us how to do our jobs."

The director said nothing as he calmly fixed his cufflinks. "Would you like to take a bet then?"

Mark raised an eyebrow. "What kind of bet?"

"I'll personally take on the role of a minor character, and I bet I can make him one of the most memorable characters in this show." The director tucked his hands into his pockets. "If I fail at this, I won't complain about your acting any more and even let you have that naked scene with Lucy and Amy you've been demanding."

"W-what?!" stammered Lucy as her whole face blushed a deep red.

"Hey, don't drag us into this!" Amy snapped. She wanted to strangle an idiot but she couldn't decide between the director or Mark.

Mark grinned. "Interesting."

"But!" the director continued. "If I win the bet, then not only do you have to listen to me, you also have to do a retake of the scene when Mytho meets Princess Tutu." The director smiled. "Without your pants."

Mark choked and Amy's eyes lit up. "Okay, now you're talking!" The risk of a naked scene is worth it for a chance to deflate Mark's ego. She looked to the pompous actor who was now sweating. "Unless, of course you don't want to take the bet and would rather just admit you were wrong."

"Of course not!" Mark snapped. "I'm confident that our foolish director will make a miserable actor."

"Then it's a bet," the director replied. "We'll finish this scene and I'll do my scene tomorrow."

"W-which character are you going to play?" Lucky asked.

"Femio."

"I don't remember him," Amy remarked.

"He's only in one episode."

Mark laughed. "Oh this will be good. I love to see how you can make a one shot character memorable. I'm so winning this bet."

The next day...

Mark stared, shocked, with his mouth open. "How?! How did he make that cow come out?! A-and those flowers? HOW?! "

Eric tuned out Mark as he reread his lines for Fakir and didn't bother to glance up. His character didn't have a lot of scenes today, so he was using the chance to memorize his lines for the next episode. If he got it done now, he would have time that night to finish planning for his 'save the rain forest' charity event. I wonder if it's possible to buy a rain forest so it won't be cut down?

"Eric, aren't you listening?"

Eric sighed. "All I'm hearing is you whining because the director has managed to win the bet." He sipped his coffee. This had better be free trade coffee he thought. "Serves you right for trying to heckle him."

"B-but, this means I lose a-and-"

Eric laughed. "Let's hope it's not too chilly when you have to retake that scene."

Mark groaned as he buried his face into his hands. The tabloids were going to enjoy this.
