Things to remember:

01. We will be doing a virtual gift exchange. You are allowed to give any of the following to our recipient: fan fiction, fan art, graphics (icons, headers, etc.), LJ and/or profile layouts, AMVs, FSTs, and any other related material that can be delivered across the internet.

02. We are doing this Secret Santa style. That means one giver to one recipient. However, here's something to think about. You have the option to give gifts to people other than your giftee. This is not required but if you'd like to, you can. ;) (Make sure you tell them you're not their Secret Santa, though. I will also need to know this in order to keep up with who has fulfilled their gift exchange duties.) More on this in the gift giving post.

03. This is a joint community event with participants from both the princesstutu LiveJournal community and the Club-Tutu DeviantArt club.

Mechanics:

01. To sign up, reply to this post with your answers to the form below. You should be able to copy and paste the text in the box below into your comment and add your answers after the ‹/b› or ‹/u›. Please answer all of the questions as much as you are comfortable with. You may want to look at last year's sign ups to get the general idea.

*Since this is a cross-community event, you are able to choose which method to be kept appraised with. Please, under Livejournal or DeviantArt user, and you use both, indicate which you prefer to use so you don't miss any messages.

* For questions number 06 & 07, note that this will just be your preferences. But that doesn't necessarily mean your gift giver has to give you something like that (for example, even if you prefer fan art but I can't draw, I probably won't be giving you fan art).

* Questions 08 and 09 mention genres. Here is a link to help you out: Wikipedia.org Fan Fiction/Art Terms

* Question 10 is an attempt to prevent any extra issues. If you have some unspoken (or public) holy war against other ships in the community, let it be known on that survey question so asatira or lycorne can try to be absolutely certain not to assign someone that likes that ship to you. If your "holy war" is against something very common, there's only so much juggling I can do though.

02. Any participants that are exclusively Deviant Art users please use LiveJournal's anonymous comment feature and note in your survey answers that you are not an LJ user.

03. Sign-ups end on Saturday, 11:59pm (GMT -8), November 6th, 2010. Within the three days following the end of sign ups, we will send you an LJ Private Message or DeviantArt Note informing you who your Secret Santa recipient will be. Please be certain to enable your ability to receive Private Messages from any Registered User.

04. Once you receive your Secret Santa assignment, come here to find where your recipient filled out their survey. This will give you an idea of what kind of gift to create for them.
While I will try my best to match up people with interests that do not completely disagree, it will NOT always be possible to accomplish that. If you receive an S.S. assignment and are genuinely uncomfortable fulfilling any of their requests, let me know immediately, and I will try to switch your assignment with someone else. Please try to get all switch requests in within a week of getting your assignment. Three days before the gift exchanging starts is really too late to tell me you can't handle your assignment.
(Please do not abuse this option. This is only to be used for requests that you are sincerely uncomfortable fulfilling and give NO options that you are comfortable with, not for just being picky. You don't have to agree with someone's likes or dislikes to be their Secret Santa.)
If you disagree with shipping likes, you can always do gen art or fic of someone's favorite character rather than their OTP.

05. I will then set up the Gift-Giving post in this community. Further instructions will be given once I post it. Basically though, each participant will be posting separate comments. All you have to do is find your recipient's username. You will reply anonymously there to give your gift(s) during gift-giving period. Before the gift is ready, if you want to make your recipient know you're there, feel free to bug them. All of the assignments will be revealed after the gift giving period. (More on how to do this later.)

06. You will have the rest of November and most of December to make your gift(s). This should be more than enough time.

07. The gift giving period will be December 19th, 2010 to January 1st, 2011 (2 weeks). During this time, employ your own strategy. You can give as many gifts as you want to your recipient (say, once every three days or something). You can also just give one. It's up to you how you do it and when as long as it's within those two weeks. If you're really going for the excitement, though, a suggestion: withhold your most prized gift until the end of the period.

08. I know that there is a risk that some people will fail to fulfill their Secret Santa obligation. Please do not sign up to participate if you do not intend on completing your side of the bargain. We're counting on everyone to be genuine about getting into the holiday/gift-giving spirit.
That said, it may be inevitable that someone drops out due to unforeseen circumstances.
If this happens, we need a couple of things to occur.
1.) Please tell asatira or lycorne if you will be unable to fulfill your S.S. duties ASAP so we can try to do some Secret Santa re-assigning.
2.) For the cases of people who do not inform us about dropping out and the exchange period ends without their giftee receiving anything or do not give enough advance notice to allow us to re-assign people, we will need volunteers to fill in for these MIA Secret Santas. We will make a post requesting volunteers if/when this occurs.
When filling out your survey, please also mention if you would be willing to act as a pinch-hitter Secret Santa should the need arise.
Being a "pinch-hitter" means you would volunteer to create an extra gift for someone IF their original Secret Santa bails-out/disappears at the last minute. Pinch-hitting is volunteering to potentially do extra work for no reward.

09. Please keep in mind that this is a Princess Tutu Secret Santa Exchange. All requests and gifts should be made within the Princess Tutu series. Original Characters (not specifically created for the Princess Tutu universe) or characters from other series are not appropriate to this specific Secret Santa Exchange (unless you're requesting a cross-over).
