Black Swan=Princess Tutu!?

Anyway, I was watching an awesome guy's internet show, the Nostalgia Critic's top favorite movies of 2010 and he said his most favorite was a movie called Black Swan. I'd never even heard of this flick but from how he described it and the clips, it sounded like something RIGHT OUT of Princess Tutu. It centers around a girl doing ballet and she eventually becomes a.....black-colored swan? o_o Just like when Mytho turned in the crow! So I was wondering if it was worth checking out? It kinda looks a little scary and I'm terrible with horror movies.....XD;
Also, do you think the creators saw PT and said, "Hey, let's make something like THIS?" lol I don't know a lot about ballet-is it often associated with swans? lol sorry for sounding so stupid. XD;;
