So, do you guys remember that video blacksheep found last year? On this post--the one of Takahiro Sakurai, the seiyuu that played Fakir, talking about the finale of Princess Tutu.

Well, I mentioned it to a friend of mine and joked about how we weren't able to figure out what he was saying in the video because of how fast he talks. XD Well, this friend, [livejournal.com profile] kawaii_gaara, is Japanese and sometimes translates things for fansubs and the like, and was sweet enough to offer to translate what Sakurai-san was saying in the video! Click the cut to see what he was saying!

To all the fans who have supported Princess Tutu, hello!

My name is Sakurai Takahiro and I play Fakir, yo!

Well, we're finally approaching the climax and I think everyone who's been watching it is excited about how it will turn out but.

Let's see, how should I put it, this series really suddenly draws you in and has this power
and is very delicate. Well, the world of ballet itself has each aspect that is very vital and it has its grace, highly noble, phosphorus-like parts to it as well as, and this may not be the right word but dark, a portrayal that makes you kind of excited and shocked. It's very... how do I put it, a world that I'm into.

And lately there hasn't been this type of anime production so,
I'm sure there are probably a lot of people who have been surprised at various parts because of the development leading up to this point and working towards the climax, wondering what's going to happen now?

I wonder how it's going to turn out.
I have absolutely no clue.
I wonder if I'm allowed to say I have no clue, ha ha ha.
Well, I don't think there are any aspects of Fakir in what I said just now but-
well, I'm doing his role, even if I'm like this, ha!

Umm, what should I say, well, I don't think it'll end in a straightforward manner, we'll put it that way.
Will it have a happy ending or will it end kind of sad, I'm not so sure there either.
Everyone has their own take on the work and I think it's very easy to do so.
You're able to follow different characters, different stories, there are different twists, and different foreshadowing going on that it truly has many aspects that you have to check out.

Until the end, as Fakir, I shall pal- pull through/support, will pull through/support so-
I hope that everyone as well, ha ha ha.
Try not to laugh cuz I naturally stutter just like now.
With Fakir, I'll be slapping attacks [Tsuppashiri (突っ張り) is an attack in sumo], slapping attacks!? Ha ha, I'll be pulling through/support.

[Translator’s note: Both have the same kanji but Sakurai is playing on words here so that one is strictly known for the sumo attack verses the other. ]

I'll be slapping attacks so! Yeah, I'm going to be slapping like crazy through it so-
I'd really be happy and hope everyone will follow the series and- *dies laughing* pull through/support as well so.

Please make sure you watch it to the very end without missing anything, devote your eyes, and I'd be really happy if everyone cries, laughs, and honestly expresses their feelings- Am I talking too long? Am I ok? Ok.

While keeping that in mind I will do my best, so by all means until the end, *sniffles* please support Princess Tutu.

Thank you very much!"

I think it's official: Sakurai-san is a dork. And I adore him for it.
