Apparently there's going to be an official PT 10th Anniversary Festival in Tokyo on August 16th. XD

The event will (I think, this is based on Google Translate's version of the event website) feature director Junichi Sato, character designer Ikuko Itoh, Ahiru's seiyu Nanae Katou, Mytho's seiyu Naoki Yanagi, and others I'm hoping Takahiro Sakurai will be able to attend, but he's pretty busy lately so who knows. There will be behind-the-scenes stories about the production of Princess Tutu as well as a Q&A session. I think the anime will also be rerun on this date on different TV stations in Japan but the event itself will require a ticket.

The official event website is HERE and you can also find news about the event by following Junichi Sato's twitter account under the hashtag #ptutu. And if you are lucky enough to be in Japan you can purchase the ticket for attending the event here.

So this is kind of random, but I was looking at clips from the dub, and near the end of episode 20, when Fakir starts to write a story for Raetsel, he says to himself, "I know! I can write a letter to the president."

This is very strange... did anyone else notice this? I'm pretty sure it was just Chris Patton joking around, but the fact that it made it into the official dub is hilarious.

EDIT: Fffft. That was *weird*. Okay, well, I think the links to the files should work just fine now. I've kept the fail-safe measures up in case for some screwed up reason they get wonky again.

So, a couple of you might remember the Character Voice Impersonation post I made a while back. I was taking requests for brief readings of dialogues, and though it took literally four months to finish four requests (some longer than others lol), they're finally done, and though I think I'm crazy for doing so, I'll offer up the remaining slots again in case any are still interested. =P It's cause I love you guys. Who doesn't like to hear their own writing of their favorite characters in the flesh?

If this is your first time hearing about this, that post aforementioned should have all you need to know, my sample impersonations of various Tutu dub voices (yes, INCLUDING the main guys, with some magic pitch modding, see the old post for the before-and-after tricks) and the previous requests, which I'll list here too anyway:

Requests!

(I find it hilarious that the ones I've been getting the most voice requests for are the *guys* XD )

EDIT: Forgot to mention! As long as you have the music for me to use (doesn't have to be pre-cut, I can do the editing, just the original material), you can also request background music or anything with the voices that you'd like to make it seem more realistic/cinematic! I have a database of SFX to use as well so I can take care of those ;D This is not that much extra work for me, so please don't hesitate to request any specifics for these kinda things as well! =)

Hi guys! I've been part of this community for a while, but I never posted anything...
I blame this on the fact that I'm shy... Bordering on anti-social. >_<

Anyhow! I came on, not only to introduce myself and make myself feel awkward, but to present a gift  in hopes of winning you over.

I recently got back from an anime convention where Luci Christian and Chris Patton were guests. Surprisingly enough, there was a Princess Tutu panel! And it was actually a pretty packed panel! :D
I asked the two actors to improvise a scene where Ahiru and Fakir confess their feelings for each other and THEY DID. It was quite humorous. So here you go. :3

Um... So yeah. Let me know if I'm breaking any rules here by posting this. >_>;;
And... Nice to meet you all! :D
[identity profile] december-zephyr.livejournal.com
Hey guys! I'm in Seattle right now for Sakuracon, and tomorrow I'm attending a press conference with Luci Christian (English voice actress of Duck/Ahiru/Princess Tutu). This isn't a Q&A panel you typically see at cons, but small, industry-only conference. So! I was wondering if there was anything you guys wanted me to ask her? I'm pretty much going to just be taking notes tomorrow, but my partner needs some questions to ask her. Questions involving her role in Princess Tutu would also be relevant~
[identity profile] tomoyoichijouji.livejournal.com
Sooo...I've gotten into a little something called voice acting recently, thanks to that fandub that was posted a while back. I was wondering, besides the obvious of waiting for more episodes of that to come out, how might I use this new little hobby to better serve the Tutu fandom?

And then I realized I'd been planning something like this all along. XDXD Except now I have better equipment to do it!

Thus without further ado, listen with shock at my impersonations of various Tutu characters! Mostly females, but YES. I ATTEMPTED THE TEENAGE MALES. ...With sound editing, yes. No, I am not so awesome that I can get adolescent male pitches with my normal voice. But I have the raws as well to show you that yes, it was originally my voice. XDXD

Ahem.

Cut for the horror that is Tomoyo's character impersonationz! )

...Yeah.

AND NOW. For my last trick!

[EDIT: Requests #5 and after were requested from this more recent post!]

You get to, if you so choose, to request me to say a short mono/dia/multilogue of 100 words or less of any characters you'd like that I have listed! (Or any minor characters not sampled above if you'd like, but it's probably best to stick to girls like Raetsel or Freya in those cases) I won't be strict on the word count, it's just to give you a general idea that I can't be reading like pages and page of stuff XP It can be a portion of a fic you wrote, just some random dialogue you'd like to hear -- the only requirement is that it has to be safe for work. Nothing too explicit, that kind of thing. ;) And uh, give your request some kind of title so I can list it easier XP

...And I make no guarantees on the guys; the pitch managed to work for these samples, and I can imitate the way I made the voices for those, but I'm not sure if it'll come out so good in testing XD;; So take it with a grain of lolz.

I'm not sure how popular this will be yet, so I'm giving this 10 blocks that once are filled, I'll work on and then perhaps open up some more. =)

...*waits to catch the flying tomatoes*

Hi guys! I just saw this news article and I thought this might interest the community.

In Japan they're gearing up for the 4th Annual Seiyuu Awards ceremony on March 6th. Most of the winners haven't been announced yet (obviously), but a few of the special awards have, and guess who got one?

Nana Mizuki, who we all know as the lovely Princess of Crows, Rue! \o/ She got the Kei Tomiyama award, which...I actually know nothing about, so if anyone's a little more well-versed and wants to clue us in that'd be awesome, but. Either way, I thought it was great to see an actor associated with the show be recognized for their work. ^^

I wonder if we'll see Takahiro Sakurai or any of the other seiyuu associated with the show get awards when the full winner's list is announced?

Just a small art dump because I have PT fanart that keeps piling up. It's about time I post some to this comm again.

As per usual, please click to full view! (For some of them you have to click a few times for the actual size because I like my fanart x-box hueg, apparently.)

No warnings, but there is some stupid ahead )

Thanks for looking! :D
[identity profile] haleysings.livejournal.com
Hey guys! Sliiiightly OT, but it's anime-related, and it could tie back to Princess Tutu, depending.

I just read a post on Anime News Network saying that the 4th Annual Seiyuu Awards is accepting votes in English from fans in foreign countries. The article says that the special "overseas" award was started last year "to recognize more voice actors by recognizing opinions from more areas." Last year's winner was Jun Fukuyama, who played the role of Lelouche from Code Geass.

I'll be honest, I'm more knowledgeable of voice actors here in the states than seiyuu in Japan, but I still think this is a great chance for fans to help support some of their favorite actors, so I thought you guys might like to know about this! They're accepting votes until the 1st of January, so you've got plenty of time to decide who to vote for. There's a link in the news post I linked to for the voting page. ^^
[identity profile] haleysings.livejournal.com
So, do you guys remember that video blacksheep found last year? On this post--the one of Takahiro Sakurai, the seiyuu that played Fakir, talking about the finale of Princess Tutu.

Well, I mentioned it to a friend of mine and joked about how we weren't able to figure out what he was saying in the video because of how fast he talks. XD Well, this friend, [livejournal.com profile] kawaii_gaara, is Japanese and sometimes translates things for fansubs and the like, and was sweet enough to offer to translate what Sakurai-san was saying in the video! Click the cut to see what he was saying!

Warning: may cause fangirling. It did with me. XD )

I think it's official: Sakurai-san is a dork. And I adore him for it.
[identity profile] blacksheep91.livejournal.com
Heeey all. Who wants to do me a favor?

So recently I was able to see this video:

It's none other then Sakurai Takahiro, Fakir's voice actor!(Like that's news to anyone. You've all seen this already, haven't you?) Well never the less, I was excited to see it, but dismayed when I realized that only four years of japanese can get you so far...(I'm ashamed of myself ;_;)

Sooo, to the more qualified out there, would someone be willing to translate for me?? :D

The actor that portrayed the Raven in ADV's dub of Princess Tutu, Mike Kleinhenz, died of a heart attack last week. I can't say he was my favorite in the dub, but he was still a great addition to the cast. It's sort of odd to think that I won't be hearing him in ADV's dubs anymore.

But...yeah, I figured it was relevant to the community and some of you might like to know.
[identity profile] haleysings.livejournal.com
Hi all~. In one week, I'll be going to NanDesuKan. ^_^ I've got two questions for you all:

Anyone else from the community going to be there? I know it's a small con, so I'm not really expecting it but I'm curioues.

Secondly: Chris Patton (who, in case you didn't know, was the voice of Fakir in the Princess Tutu dub) is a guest at the con. ^^ I'm horrible at coming up with interesting questions for guests at panels, so does anyone have a question they'd like me to ask him?

I actually know there's going to be some Tutu cosplayers there--I was actually planning on being Autor, but sadly that didn't work out. I'll try to get some pictures of them to share with you all.

Yaaay, my first contribution to the Princess Tutu fandom!

As I let slip earlier, while surfing around Japanese PT fansites, I came across a report of a post-series live drama performed by the seiyuu and written by Ikuko Itoh. My first reaction was "No way, is this for real?!" because I hadn't seen it mentioned anywhere in the English fandom (though admittedly, I've only been into Princess Tutu for a couple of months now). But after finding more reports, I confirmed that it did indeed happen. This is all the information I could find from these fan reports:

On March 21, 2004, at the Gold Crown Town Fantasy 3.AKT Princess Tutu only event (an event to display and sell Princess Tutu doujinshi), there was a talkshow with Ikuko Itoh scheduled, but to everyone's surprise, director Junichi Satou also appeared, along with the seiyuu for Ahiru, Mytho, Autor, and Uzura. (Fakir and Rue's seiyuu did not attend. It seems that Takahiro Sakurai couldn't come because he was at a seiyuu event for Gash Bell.) On top of that, they held a live drama recording written by Itoh-san that takes place after the last episode of the anime! It was apparently about 20-30 minutes long, and yes, Autor plays a large role. XD

In closing, I must say THANK YOU to these fans for writing their reports or else we wouldn't know anything about this story. And THANK GOD for the internet. *__*

Anime Boston was this weekend and I must say that it was fantastic. I cosplayed Princess Tutu, and I was amazed by how many people recognized who I was. It was amazing--I could barely go to the bathroom without being stopped xD; Wearing pointe shoes for that long really hurt, but it was worth it. One of the best parts of the convention was meeting Luci Christian while in costume. She screamed and then demanded a picture of us! It was amazing. We got the same reaction when we were getting her autograph later, and she joined us in a ballet pose later and addressed the autograph "To princess Tutu...Love Duck" which is too cute for words <3

There were also many other cosplayers running around as Tutu characters, which amazed me. I snapped pictures of many and will now share with you all my pictures.

Anime Boston 2007 )

In summary, it was wonderful and I'm glad that so many people have gotten into this series. It's an amazing story and I believe that everyone should atleast give it a chance. The Tutu fancrowd is growing, and I am loving it :)
[identity profile] swordsncarrots.livejournal.com
Hello, everyone! I just returned from Anime Boston and it was so much fun! I might have even seen some of you cosplaying as Princess Tutu characters! My friend Puchiko2 sold some really nice Princess Tutu artwork at the artist alley, which hopefully she will upload some time. But for any Princess Tutu fan, the highlight of the weekend was definitely getting to meet Luci Christian. Christina (Puchiko)  and I went to Luci Christian's panel on Friday, which was very fun. She talked about how she got into voice acting, and she was very friendly and *very* funny ( as we could see by anime unscripted later on that night, lol). Then I got to ask Luci Christian some questions concerning Princess Tutu!!!
I asked her:
1. What did you like the most about working on Princess Tutu?
2. What was the most challenging about working on Princess Tutu?
And then a request that I won't spoil...so please go into the cut and watch what I uploaded onto Youtube!
[identity profile] astrobright68.livejournal.com
I dunno if anyone has seen this already, but for the Anime on DVD awards for 2006, Princess Tutu got voted second best dub of the year, and both Luci Christian and Chris Patton won awards for best voice actress and and actor (respectively) for their voice acting as Duck and Fakir! XD. i hope they do as well at the American Anime Awards! i know i voted for them!

Anyway! just thought i'd post this tidbit! ^-^

The Princess Tutu Cast Party

The big highlight of Ushiko’s Block Party, was the main spotlighted event, the Princess Tutu Cast Party which was held from 5pm-8pm CST on Saturday, January 27 in Austin, TX. For the longest time the webpage had announced a total of 6 guests for the event and the teaser text “More TBA” but it was never updated.

Read On )

Photo Galleries:

Since I was running the event, I didn't have much chance to take pictures, but here are the few photos I did take. And here's some other photo galleries: Photo Thread on the Ushicon BBS (there are only a handful of photos from the actual Cast party, the rest are from the entire weekend), Mikayla's photos, & Corinn's gallery.

I'll put together at least one other vast post, or some smaller posts detailing my individual days during my vacation. ^.^ Look forward to it. :)
