Hey, guys! I was just wondering if anyone knows Ikuko Itohs address or anything? I wanted to write her a letter for a long time, searched through the Internet but found nothing.:/ oh well, maybe someday she will visit this community. Imagine, her posting here;)

(lol not to rickroll some people but this apparently is available to people in the US only XD;; )

That's right folks -- it's a LEGAL stream of the entire series. The ads you watch while viewing the episodes sponsor the companies who license and produce the anime we love and enjoy. It's the dubbed version too! (The Tutu dub is quite well done, even if you like the original Japanese better. =3 And c'mon people, it's LEGAL and it supports the show. So DO EEEET. 8D )

Please watch and enjoy! ♥♥

Hey guys! I was just checking out RightStuf's current specials and noticed they've put the Princess Tutu USA boxset on sale! They're currently selling it for only $25 plus shipping, which is a pretty good deal I think. (Particularly since I spent something like $130 on the singles when I first got 'em...) I don't know if there's anyone on the comm that doesn't have the DVDs yet, but if you haven't had a chance to and have some extra cash around, now might be the time to do it.

The length of time RightStuf has stuff as part of their weekly specials tends to sorta vary--they change every Thursday, but sometimes items will be part of the weekly specials for several weeks, or go off special and come back on special. (One of the other items listed, the Baccano! boxset, has been going on and off special since December--I got it for the special price a few months back.) So if you need to wait a bit but want to get it later, keep checking the specials, it might stick around. (I wouldn't count on it, though, or let it lull you into a sense of security.)

so...yeah. :V I don't know if this'll be helpful for any of you, but I noticed it so I figured I'd let everyone know, just in case.

(oh! As a footnote, I just started school this week, so I've been a little busy and I've had a hard time keeping up with posts to the comm...sooo if you need me to do some modly stuff, feel free to message me or one of the other mods and let us know, just in case I miss stuff.)

I apologize if this has already been pointed out (if it was I missed it) but the Princess Tutu dub is available legally on youtube. I am guessing though it is only available to US residents.

And of course we already saw the series but this is the perfect way to introduce new fans right. In fact I am going to send this link to someone who was interested in checking out the series right now. :)

Hello everyone!

I am posting this entry for two reasons. First, for some news on a slightly unrelated note (but one I'm certain several members may be pleased to hear); and, second, for a slight request.

As for the news, I've noticed that there are a number of people on here who share a love for Revolutionary Girl Utena (and consider it on par with Princess Tutu). I don't know how many people keep up with anime news or licenses or purchase their anime, but for those who do you may be interested in what I'm about to tell. As announced on Friday at Anime Expo, Right Stuf's Nozomi has acquired the license to Revolutionary Girl Utena the TV series, and as of Saturday it was confirmed that they have also acquired the movie. They will be remastered versions from Japan.

Anyone who has tried buying the series within the last few years will understand (like me) that what's selling on ebay is freaking-A expensive. As someone who didn't really have the money when it first came out, this news is like a godsend, for now I shall finally be given the opportunity to own the series myself (without having to pay out the butt).

Lots and lots of good news have been coming out from Anime Expo. If you're interested to see what's all been licensed, check out Anime News Network (another one I'm really excited about is Funimation license rescuing Haibane Renmei).

As for the second part of this entry, I was wondering if anyone who owns the individual DVD discs of Princess Tutu would be interested in scanning both sides in? I found one post searching on this journal where someone scanned them in, but the scan sizes are kind of small and not as high quality. I've borrowed my local libraries copies and have scanned several, but they have stickers that I wasn't always successful at peeling off and other wears and tears. I would prefer high quality, good scans if possible.

What do I plan on doing with these scans? Well, you see, there are these guys online, Paul Champagne and Nick De Santis, who design dvd collector's cases - with Nick specifically doing anime - and Nick designed one for Princess Tutu. I plan on buying the box, buying six separate amaray dvds, printing out the official dvd case designs, and then taking the dvds from the complete collection that I own and placing them in those dvd cases. Frankly, I think Princess Tutu is worthy of much more than a simple case with a picture of Rue-the-harlot on the front cover. I know that a second version was released later with better cover art, but I have already bought this one. And I'd really rather spend my monies glamming my Tutu merchandise up and giving it the respect it deserves.

Thank you.

Hey guys! I'm in Seattle right now for Sakuracon, and tomorrow I'm attending a press conference with Luci Christian (English voice actress of Duck/Ahiru/Princess Tutu). This isn't a Q&A panel you typically see at cons, but small, industry-only conference. So! I was wondering if there was anything you guys wanted me to ask her? I'm pretty much going to just be taking notes tomorrow, but my partner needs some questions to ask her. Questions involving her role in Princess Tutu would also be relevant~

This is the text to republish in Italy by the publisher De Agostini, in a version faithful in packing and contents to the original Japanese, the DVD of the soul of Princess Tutu.

sorry, if is in italian but hereunder there is a translation:

Princess Tutu is a shojo anime belonging to the category Majocchi.
The series created by Ikuko Itoh and directed by Junichi Sato departs
the production of such classic shojo boy wizard (Majocchi) for
propose an anime of "gender" suitable for everyone.
The series, based on the world of ballet is a tribute
classic fairy tales and in its 26-episode recounts the adventures of Ahiru:
a simple paper from the human heart, which in love with a beautiful
Prince sad-eyed, having expressed the desire to be
a girl to be near him and smiled back, will be chosen by
Drosselmayer, to assume the role of the legendary Princess Tutu
in order to restore the lost pieces of heart-each representing an emotion-Prince Mytho, who, years ago, to save people
his kingdom from the terrible monster Raven them distressed,
using a forbidden power, he pointed his sword at his chest and used the pieces
your heart siggillarlo.
The rights were purchased in 2006 by soul PlayPress that the reissued
series 8 DVD at a price of 10.00 euros each.
Unfortunately the publisher did not use great care in editing and even
in the promotion, disappointing so many fans of this opera having known through YouTube in language origianle expected to be able to taste in Italian and deterring the curious who saw the purchase of one-shot publicity he wanted to bet on a concenzione child 's anime in question - a product suitable for an audience of girls.
We ask with this petition to De Agostini, to buy
rights of the soul of Princess Tutu to re-edit an edition in luxury with special dalpacking faithful to the original Japanese DVD?
In addition to the soul in a new relase on DVD if you may edit the fanbook and artbook for Princess Tutu, unfortunately never edited in the West and in the original version on eBay at prices prohibitive.
Pray with your heart to be heard because you can not refuse after all American comics and a lot of high class classical Japanese aniamzione treated with care this cute Japanese animation recently.

Thank at every for the attention and sorry for my english.

I noticed this bit of information has not been proclaimed within the community all too often, but I think it's a pretty important date! This August 16th will be the 7th anniversary of Princess Tutu's original air date in Japan! It's quite early to post this, but I wanted to share in case anybody desired to do a special fanwork or something else by that time to celebrate.

Seven years! I suppose it's too late now for a third season. I'll still hope for one, though (but this is a topic for another time).

I wasn't sure what to tag this. Mods, feel free to remove/add tags that you see as more appropriate.

So in case someone doesn't already own Princess Tutu or just wants to buy it again. ADV is releasing another complete set (and this one looks so much better than the last complete set)

I am not sure if the extras will be included in this, but I assume they will be!

Found this out from [livejournal.com profile] scintilla72 Good lookin' out!

The Anime Network is now offering all 26 episodes of Princess Tutu for streaming.

Although I personally would prefer one would watch the sub, come on! Legal and free baby!

(How it works: If your computer is compatible, you can go to the main page and click on one of the six icons. "Girl Power" might yield best results. Then, click on the episode you want to view! It is the full english dub, contains 12 second commercials and no on screen text, be warned.)

So for all of you who haven't finished the series and are watching it on youtube, here's a better quality alternative!~

Sad news

The actor that portrayed the Raven in ADV's dub of Princess Tutu, Mike Kleinhenz, died of a heart attack last week. I can't say he was my favorite in the dub, but he was still a great addition to the cast. It's sort of odd to think that I won't be hearing him in ADV's dubs anymore.

But...yeah, I figured it was relevant to the community and some of you might like to know.

Sorry for the double-post today, but I just got an e-mail about this:

Right Stuf is having a sale on ADV's DVDs. All of their DVDs are 40% off. This would be a great time for anyone who doesn't have the boxset yet to pick it up. ^^
[identity profile] kerorokero.livejournal.com
If anyone's interested Anime Network online has Princess Tutu for free. Yes this is totally legal and stuff, you just need flash probably :P

So I suppose if you haven't bought the DVDs yet (which you totally should!) and/or you'll feel dirty if you were to watch it via illegal means here's a temporary solution!

EDIT: ehehe. I forgot to mention it's only available to US/Canadian residents... sorry, and thanks for reminding me wao
I should also probably mention it's in the English dub only -_-;;

I was watching the latest podcast from Anime News Network, and they said we can look forward to a tour of Studio Hal--the animation Studio that made Princess Tutu--on their next podcast, which should release on Saturday, February 17th. :)

So something to look forward to.

Hello All. I hardly ever post but I got a notice in my email today that the Right Stuff online anime store has the Princess Tutu DVD box set available for pre-order with a release date of November 10, 2007. the box art was included in the email but not on the page and frankly, it's ok, but not great, but let's hope there is still time for revisions. You can check out the page here

[livejournal.com profile] pelianth adds "You might wish to edit your post with the information that, through Oct. 7, Right Stuf is having a 40% off sale on all ADV DVDs when you use the coupon code 'primetime'."

Anime On DVD has just reported an update on the Princess Tutu complete collection release:

For those that are looking at the Princess Tutu Complete Collection that we just listed yesterday, we've learned a bit more about it. The release will, to the surprise of many I'm sure, contain all the extras that were available on the original single disc releases. We've also learned that there is likely to be a big sale at the end of the month at the ADV Films site/store with that title included.

(A warning: ADV's sales tend not to be the best of deals, especially considering their slow shipping and slashing of bar codes.)

I, for one, am very happy about this, seeing as I'm still missing volume one.
[identity profile] kirarakim.livejournal.com
So after browsing the AOD forums. I found out that there is going to be a thinpak release of Princess Tutu scheduled to be out on November 7 for the Region 1 market. So for those who were having trouble finding some of the single DVDs or who couldn't afford them this is a way that you can purchase Princess Tutu for less money.

http://www.animeondvd.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/22492/tp/10/

http://videovault.diamondcomics.com/public/default.asp?t=1&m=1&c=5&s=30&ai=59699&ssd=9/19/2007

For those who don't know thinpaks are cheap box releases of a series. The DVD cases are usually super thin hence the name. The reason why these cost less than the singles is you won't get any of the extras that were on the original DVDs (I doubt the thinpak will include the reversible covers either).

If you want the single DVD releases I suggest you get them now because ADV seems to stop releasing singles once they release their thinpaks. I know volume 1 is already hard to find.
[identity profile] ethelflaed.livejournal.com
Since Volumes 1 and 4 are getting to be very difficult to find and there's no indication as to whether or not ADV is planning to release a thinpack, I thought I'd mention that the entire show is available for purchase in the ADV digital store for $4.99 an episode.

While this release has some flaws (it's dub-only and Windows Media Player-only), it's definitely better than nothing, right?

(In the same vein - for those looking to get the music, Amazon.com has a special Classical Music section with fairly standard recordings for reasonable prices - Swan Lake is available for $7.97, to pick the first example that comes to mind.)

Hope this can help some people who are trying to buy the show.

I was surfing through some Dvd selling sites yesterday because I'd finally gotten together enough moola to get a couple of the Princess Tutu Dvds. When I noticed NOBODY not even ADV.com has the first volume of Princess Tutu available. Does anybody know why? Have they just stopped printing it, or was there a sudden overwhelming demand?
[identity profile] kerorokero.livejournal.com
I'm kinda sorta new to the community and I'm not in the habit of posting frequently if at all but I was just wondering about something.
On the community profile page it says that the manga for Princess Tutu is licensed by Viz. As far as I know ADV holds the rights for the manga (and the anime as well). Is this a mistake on the page or was I ignorant and missed something? I'm well aware that  ADV has lost the license to some of it's manga and as a result some have been picked up other publishers but I'm pretty sure this is not the case with Princess Tutu because they did manage to release all two volumes of it. Since I'm new I don't know if this issue has been brought up before or not but for the sake of my sanity I bring it up.
